1. the bread! i've become such a bread, cheese, chocolate, coffee snob... there are 2 bakeries in mpls that make bread almost as good, and i can barely afford either so i'm not sure what i'm going to do. my high carb diet may be coming to an end soon and i'll have to switch back to eating vegetables...
2. walking home from work. granted i lived about 6-7km away from my job, but it was so nice to be able to walk home across the lake. comparably speaking, MN is incredibly spread out so between work and school i'll be driving everywhere. yes, we have mass transit in mpls, but it doesn't work well for a chica who has to physically be in 2 different parts of the metro between 8am and 9pm daily...
3. total randomness. whenever i traveled to a new town, i would always find something bizarre (yes, i'm easily entertained!). leg warmer on a street pole in paris???
4. the lights at molard. just discovered these things w/nancy during the fete. i luv that the area itself is cute, yet pretty indescript - there are some stores and cafes, but nothing that makes it stand out. it's only when it turns dark and people leave that you really see how a simple street can light up.
5. lake geneva. back home i live in the "land of 10,000 lakes", in a city that has several lakes of its own, but it's not the same. i have such good memories of things around this area: going to a boat party w/jackie; drinking coffee w/betsy and mike after dim sum; making people walk around w/me w/buckets of tea in hand even tho it was cold out.and lastly, the people. i knew i'd meet people here, but didn't expect them to take me in and treat me like family. it's going to be hard to go back. i'm going to miss them very much.
