One Wk Down, 14 More To Go...

i arrived back in the US exactly 1 wk ago and it's been crazy. non-stop, run around craziness. i just finished my 1st wk of classes, and between seeing people and returning to my previous life, i'm starting to question if all this effort is worth it.

i'm only taking 13 credits this semester: a language course, an economic development course, national security policy, and my capstone. the latter 2 are heavier loads: one is incredibly intense w/a lot of heavy, but interesting reading; the other is group work, heavy in research, and all the work is for an external client. in addition, i'm spending the first half of this wknd in a capstone-related workshop (a few classmates featured here).

the rest of my wknd will be spent at the office catching up on the almost 800 emails received while i was away and attempting to fix all the work that wasn't done in my absence. i'm not quite sure who i hired to do a few reports for me while i was in geneva, but apparently she's an idiot. on paper she looked ok, i got good recommendations, AND she appeared competent in the interview. but as i understand it, despite the 3 days of training i gave her and the detailed, printed, color-coded instructions i left her with, she was only good at surfing people.com. WHAT THE @#$%!!!! since starting work again tues, i've only been able to locate a few documents that she might have tinkered with, so i will be at the office after class tmrw and most of sunday.

the job stress also means i'm not sure when my homework and piles of reading will get done. i'm seriously considering the possibility of dropping a class or delaying my graduation. all i know is that i'm already mentally and emotionally exhausted, and i still have 14 wks to go this semester...
