my friend andy (whose friendship i'm now SERIOUSLY questioning) sent me an email the other day regarding an event to benefit Open Your Heart, an awesome local non-profit that looks to alleviate hunger and homelessness in the state of MN.
the event is a TV pilot for American Soulmate, where you tell a panel of judges why you're the greatest thing since sliced bread, yet perpetually single and have no idea why. winners get on the show where america watches them relinquish any sense of pride and get matched up. think along the lines of The Bachelor, except instead of being the rich idiot looking for luv, you're just the idiot...
(for the record, my friend kelly also sits on the board for OYH, and she wasn't dumb enough to send me an email suggesting i sign up...)
for those that are interested or easily entertained, it's on Feb 12 in the MOA rotunda. registration is only $14 (in honor of v-day) w/all the proceeds going to OYH. and if the idea of humiliating yourself in front of hundreds (if not potentially THOUSANDS or MILLIONS) of people just before valentine's day isn't appealing enough, the 1st 200 people that sign up get a goodie bag.
i've offered andy $20 AND to keep him company at the registration table in return for a goodie bag, but no dice. i have no idea what's in it, but I WANT ONE!
and the only thing that might be better than the goodie bag is the fact that you have to be btwn the ages of 21 and 101 to enter. 101? really? if you're still able to mack on the ladies at 101, you should automatically get in!
seriously andy...where's the luv???
