The Week From Hell - DAY 4

this was the one FUN day of the week. started out working like mad, but eventually left the hotel in the afternoon to join my WW dry milling group (flour millers) on an offsite outing.

for this particular outing, i had arranged for a segway tour of downtown minneapolis' historic riverfront. WAY TOO COOL! if any of you get the chance, GO! the tours aren't cheap, but definitely worth a try (dane - if you don't get here by nov, we have to wait til next year after the snow melts!).

for those that don't know, segways are two-wheeled sticks that move depending on where your body leans. and apparently you're considered a pedestrian on them (think: motorized cart) so you can go ANYWHERE indoors w/them. i now want to go shoe shopping w/one of these things...

per my boss's request, we stopped at the mill city museum in the middle of our tour (cuz flour millers should see a milling museum, right?). after munching on cookies, taking an elevator ride, and watching a quick film on mpls milling history, we hoped back on and finished our tour w/a loop around boom island.

being outside whizzing around on a 2-wheeled stick on what was probably the last FABULOUS day of the year was probably the best thing for me after a hellish wk. we ended the evening by meeting up w/some other folks for a huge group dinner, where the brazilians taught me how to make strawberry caprihinas. they said if i failed, i'm suppose to go down there and study :)

(top to bottom: view of the stone arch bridge and mississippi river from the top of the mill city museum; listening to the tour guide on top of the stone arch bridge; getting ready to leave the mill city museum courtyard; aerial view of the mill city museum courtyard from the top deck; me looking stylish in my helmet.
