Decision Update

i haven't exactly decided on a job, but i have decided to decline one of my offers.

opportunity #1 was an invitation to help run the food support program for the state of mn thru their office of econ opportunity at the department of human services. i would've gotten to work w/a an AWESOME office, get a lot of autonomy, and work on hunger issues for the state.

despite the potential pay cut, i was actually quite taken by this job. i'd get to run workshops, liaise w/community groups and state agencies, and do some much needed program evaluation. it was also an excellent stepping stone for anything else at the state and federal levels.

ultimately i turned it down cuz there was no int'l focus, the pay cut would've had a definite impact on my financial obligations, and there was no paid time off allowed til april '08 (6 mos probationary period = no vac). taking holiday time might sound petty, but after the year i've had, i need a vacation!

have not accepted opportunity #2 yet, but it looks like we're pushing forward. my old boss suggested last wk we put things in ink once my conference was done, and i have a meeting on thurs to discuss more details. will keep you posted...
