Minnehaha Falls

the past 2 wknds i've been a tourist in my own town. last wknd was the drive around the st. croix river valley, and this past wknd was an afternoon walk around minnehaha falls (yes, even mpls boasts its own mini waterfall). it was a fantastic day outside: cool, sunny, and the trees weren't totally naked yet. we walked down to the foot of the falls and around the creek where we found a lot of photographers and people w/dogs that didn't know if they should pay attention to their owners or the squirrels in the trees. every now and then the peaceful scenery would be interrupted w/some pissed off dog owner screaming "COME HERE NOW!" ...tee-hee...

the only odd part about the day was walking along a nice wooden path proudly constructed by 1996 americorp volunteers. we walked and walked and walked only to find it abruptly stopped in the middle of nowhere. talk about anti-climatic! where's the rest of the path? did funding run out? were they lazy? sheesh. we ended up turning around and crossing the creek, a bit disappointed that our yellow brick road ended w/no emerald city (or at least a more natural end point).

will likely do something touristy next sunday, back permitting. today it was pretty sore (multiple needles in the back make it sore -- imagine that???), but it should be better by the wknd. it was already feeling better tnite, but that could've just been the wine...
