tnite's crisis management class was discussing iraq, and when a question was asked regarding the media, a particular lady in our class wanted to comment. however, instead of responding to the actual question our instructor posed, she went on a rant about how large corporations like boeing, lockheed, etc are really the ones controlling the media.
WHAT?! while anyone who knows me knows i'm not a defender of the big ugly corporate giant, but i am 1) intelligent enough to know that corporate giants that earn large amounts of money from govt contracts do not control the world and 2) that her response was running in some random direction.
our instructor even knew it and tried to interrupt said lady a few times, but she just kept going on by talking OVER him. and it's safe to say the majority of the class thot she was nuts based on the murmurs and gestures in the background (she's done little this semester outside demonstrating her ability to talk about nothing).
and since it bugs the crap out of me when people waste my time and she wasn't going to yield, i interrupted her by telling her i didn't agree w/her and that i had to cut her off. mr instructor offered me a brief moment to explain myself, but since my comments on her comments had NOTHING to do w/his original media question, i declined and said "that's ok, i don't want to waste anyone's time cuz it has nothing to do w/the discussion."
apparently that was a mistake and i should've defended myself. after class a few folks who i THOT were my friends told me i was a real bitch. apparently being assertive = being bitchy (esp if you're a girl).
but talking about a woman in class by making comments on how crazy she is to your neighbor while she's ranting is OK so long as she doesn't hear you? WTF?
so rather than go to the bar tnite w/my classmates as i usually do, i declined and came home. want to make sure talkers are able to bash freely out loud this time...
