6 States & 12 Hours Later

after cramming my car full of everything it could possibly take, todd and i hit the road thurs AM for DC.

i managed to pack most of my clothes, shoes, knitting stuff, and half the kitchen (the mixer had to stay behind).

the only piece of furniture i brought with was an ikea side table w/screw-on legs. everything else will come in a u-haul in a month or so.

it was my first time driving this route, and it wasn't as bad as i thot it'd be.

we left IL at 7am and drove thru indiana, ohio, pennsylvania, maryland, and down to virginia. arrived at our new home just before 8pm EST.

and it was on this trip that i learned a few things:
  1. you have to pee at designated rest stops along the OH and PA turnpikes cuz there is NOWHERE ELSE to get off;
  2. it costs about $50 in tolls to drive from Chicago to DC; and
  3. the drive was the easiest part!
