we had some crazy weather last wknd.they've had a drought here the past 3 years, and since the ground is made out of clay, the result is a shallow root system for hundred-year-old trees in equally old neighborhoods. the heavy storms over the wknd and into sunday morning meant trees were toppling everywhere: in the street, onto cars, and into people's houses.
i was attempting to beat traffic on tues by taking a short cut home thru one of the older neighborhoods, and failed miserably. the road was blocked cuz a tree was lying across the road on top of a few cars. it doesn't quite beat an ice storm in MN, but the weather here is still pretty crazy...
