My Mother the World Traveler

my mom just returned from several hard wks in korea dealing w/a family emergency. she had to fly thru chicago o'hare on her own, including customs, changing terminals, rechecking her bag, and getting her connecting flight ticket. due to the language barrier, i had previously walked her thru what she needed to know, but was still kinda freaking out that she'd end up on the el instead of the airport tram...

and then i got a call this afternoon that totally surprised me.
me: hello?
mom: hi baby.
me: MOM?! where are you?
mom: i chicago.
me: did you already go thru customs?
mom: yep.
me: did you take the tram to terminal 3?
mom: yep.
me: did you already re-check your bag and get your new ticket?
mom: yep.
me (with equal shock and pride): WOW! way to go mom! i'm so proud of you! so what gate are you at?
mom: numba 19.
me: number 19 what? G? K? H? there's 4 concourses in the terminal. (slightly panicked) which gate are you at???
mom: ah, doan worry about it. numba 19. thas ok.
me: but mom, you have to know the letter cuz you might be at the wrong gate. what letter is next to the number?
mom: i doan know. jus numba 19. maybe E? i'm not sure. thas ok. doan worry about.

fortunately my mother made it home ok and i will never doubt her powers again. but still... numba 19??? LOL.
