this is the shortest trip i've ever made to the windy city.

flew in early this morning to meet my mom, who's flying by herself to seoul. since her english isn't the best, my dad booked her on korean air. unfortunately the closest stop to get on korean air from MN is ohare, which meant a plane change and a terminal change.

and while i don't want to treat my mom like an unaccompanied minor, she barely speaks/reads/writes english. she's also never traveled alone before and wasn't sure how to get her boarding pass for her connecting flight. and w/a laptop i can work almost anywhere, including in an airport.

and i don't know about the rest of you, but i think it's tough enough for a native english speaker to change planes from a domestic flight to an international one in this airport. after landing and gathering your things, you have to exit the airport, cross a bridge, and ride a tram to change terminals. and everything's in english - NOTHING is in another language. no rolling marquees, no electronic signs in different languages, no NOTHING. they only had 1 info desk in the entire terminal, which is suppose to have help in multiple languages, but if you can't FIND it, what good is it??? how does an airport this size w/this much foreign traffic that's also vying to be a site for the 2016 olympics not have ANYTHING in another language beyond english??? morons.

(i meant that towards the airport, not towards the people of chicago. except for blagojevich. and maybe the stupid dude that was making all the stalker calls in the middle of the night. he lives here, and travels a lot, but it's a big airport...)

anyhoo, my next trip won't entail spending the entire day in an airport. wk of the 19th i'll be going thru london, brussels, and geneva, but sadly won't have any time to play.
