Homewrecker

didn't get the kitchen done today (there's always tmrw!), but i did find myself some pancakes. they were smothered in brown sugar and pecans, and a TOTAL SUGAR HIGH. dear god. those, along w/my 3 cups of coffee, had me bouncing off the walls all afternoon...

and while sitting at the counter at pancakes, i met noah. he's an assistant city manager in sandy springs, just north of atlanta. he did his MPA in houston, and we struck up a conversation on breakfast eateries and our fondness of them. ended up chatting thru breakfast, out the door, and down the street til i asked where his car was and he said we had already gone a block past it.

now before you think there's ANYTHING going on here, there isn't. noah, just like a handful of other random strangers i've met while sitting at the bar of some restaurant (or bar), have befriended me (likely out of pity) as the new girl in town. if you saw a sad looking pudgy girl sitting by herself at the counter, you'd take pity too.

what's more, he reminds me of my friend kenny g, who i would drag once a month to some breakfast spot in mpls. this means he's smart, overly polite, has a receding hair line, and wouldn't touch me w/a ten foot pole. and since i wasn't interested in him either, it was totally safe. WOOHOO!

and if THAT doesn't convince you, he has a girlfriend back in NY and we spent lots of time talking about her. so there! :p

anyways, he invited me out w/his friends so i could meet more people, but his friends got stuck somewhere and couldn't make it. so instead he and i decided to grab a late dinner. it was UBER YUMMY, and the mango margarita went very well w/my fried chicken. I HEART FRIED CHICKEN.

after dinner we decided to grab a drink somewhere, which was right about when the drama started. the gf txted him to see what he was doing, and he said "at dinner w/a girl i met this morning." HOW WRONG IS THAT?! while i believe in honesty in relationships and we (n + me) are STRICTLY friends, every guy should know that you NEVER SAY - esp in a long distance relationship - i'm at dinner on a sat night w/a girl i just met.

that made her pretty mad. he tried calling and she wasn't having any of it. i felt so bad for being there. dinner was SO INNOCENT. we spent half the time talking about her and their upcoming trip to peru. he tried to explain that she wasn't normally like this, and i told him to tell her it wasn't what she thot. that it was really pity on the newbie and that's why he invited me out. and that there was suppose to be other ppl w/us. and that i was ugly and fat. or that i had a boyfriend. or that i liked women. anything BUT that we had just met and were at dinner together...

needless to say we both felt awful and chose to call it a night. i've only been here a week and i'm already causing trouble.

UPDATE: she got over it about 30 mins after i got home and wrote this post. thank god.

Hye,

Drama, like strange men, follows you everywhere you go.

Odd. Next I want to hear about the random Irishman you've met.

This just proves, men are stupid. Even when they try to be honest and forthcoming. Hopefully you and Noah can still be friends, plus I like the fact that he went to school in Htown. Makes me feel oddly connected to him and you...
