Almost Like Xmas

i got 2 packages in the mail yesterday, but cuz i was stuck at work, i wasn't able to pick them up til today. i thot it was going to be a pile of fwded mail i'm still missing, but instead i got PRESENTS!

jenny l. sent me the most buttery, nummy, uber delicious shortbread cookies!!! (is this why we had question on melted butter?) these things are like AN INCH THICK! my camera doesn't do them justice. seriously, i think she's now the cookie queen - the woman can totally bake! all future requests for anything baked should be directed to chicago. i also got the CUTEST kitchen towel and the NICEST note. and yes, i'm totally eating as i type...

lisa sent me the heaviest box ever, and now i understand why: in addition to the ceramic travel mug, gift certificate, and books, there was a 6 pk of my favorite beer! each was individually bundled and carefully packed in the box. i guess her mom told her they were going to break on the way from MKE to ATL, but since they didn't, i think everyone should follow her lead and send a 6 pk!

this is by far the nicest thing that's happened to me since arriving. i've been here for nearly 2 wks, and it's been really tough. the job is esp hard, and is likely to get worse before it gets better (kinda like the mess in my apt). i'm finding myself constantly struggling to fix the problems that were left for me to solve, and to do it all within a 12hr work day. and i'm finding myself, esp the last couple of days, driving home from work feeling quite defeated and wanting to cry, but being way too tired to. today i finally did.

(seriously, homemade cookies and my favorite beer from 2 of the most thotful people in the world??? if you were in my spot, you'd cry to.)
