Pride Wknd

this past wknd was twin cities pride. LUV IT! apparently minneapolis hosts one of the top 3 pride festivals in the US, which i take a lot of pride in. it's nice to know that while MN is not the most exciting of places to live, it's gay friendly and knows how to show a good time... this year's main act was taylor dane, and i'd like to share that it appears she came out of the 80s and 90s unscathed and looking pretty hot. way to go TD.

FRIDAY: went to dinner w/friends kelly and becca, followed by a few beers at the uptown pride block party hosted by bryant lake bowl (for the non-MNs, bryant lake bowl is a fabby little place in uptown that has eating, drinking, bowling, AND a stage all crammed into about 1000 sq ft. it's AWESOME!). saw Tina Schlieske rock out, and w/the exception of this hairy arm in the foreground, the crowd rocked out too. all the rockin' was followed by a romp downtown (i know! crazy, isn't it? me downtown?!) and making fun of 3 dudes at the lions pub/tap/whatever it's called. fun lasted til about 9am the next day.

SATURDAY: went furniture shopping all day (we're talking til 9:30pm) and i'm still not done yet. i now DETEST furniture shopping and see nothing wrong w/plastic patio furniture that only comes in white or green and breaks easily via karate chop. spent that evening downtown (AGAIN) at brits for some beers and more making-fun-of-people watching...

SUNDAY: PARADE DAY! it's obviously no lake parade (esp since it marches on hennipen ave downtown), but it's still fun! friend roy kindly arranged a group outing and it was such a good time! something about watching a bunch of guys stroll in public half nude on a lazy sunday afternoon just seems really appealing, even if i know they like boys too...
can't wait til next year!

(top to bottom, L to R: TC pride banner; Tina Schlieske & hairy forearm; gigantic rainbow marching in the parade; people waiting for parade to start near 12th & Hennipen; the saloon semi truck; dykes on bikes, which were hands down, one of the highlights of the parade!)

happy pride! nice to see that i'm not the only one taking in the festivities, tho i might be into it a wee bit more than you (which u'd know about if u were on facebook!)

thx for the text btw. can't remember when exactly i received it, but since i have a habit of sleeping on my pants when i stay in hostels (wallet, phone, camera in my pant pockets, don't trust the lockers), ur message buzzed me awake when i did not want to be woken up. :P
