Magical Mystery Tour

an intern in our dept just filled me on something that i'm UBER excited about...

he's from the chicago area and apparently there's a MAGIC BUS that takes you from either the UofM or downtown Mpls DIRECTLY to union station in Chicago for no more than $25 each way. less than $25! you can't even buy a tank of gas for that amount! and it runs 3 times daily! DAILY!

and when i say no more than $25, i mean NO MORE. the intern in our office once booked it far enough in advance (roughly a month, which is reasonable for a kid w/scheduled school breaks), and got to ride for FREE. FREE!

well...OK, not totally free... you still have to pay the $1 registration fee...

i should also point out that the bus does make 1 stop: a 25 min potty break at some rest stop halfway to your destination. that's it. no other stops. you get to chicago in the same amount of time as driving yourself but w/o the wear-n-tear on your car. it's like MAGIC! can you tell i'm a little excited about this new phenomenon??? the US can't figure out how to employ a decent train system, but we can finally make use of buses for mass transit. WOOHOO!

jenny, dane, b -- if i come to chicago, i might just take the magical mystery tour to see if it's really worth the legend that preceeds it. from there i'll jump on the el towards you, but you'll have to pick up my butt at one of kiss-n-rides lots...

ps -- why are they called kiss-n-rides? why don't you just call them makeout-n-parks? or better yet (as we prudish people in MN do) just call them CARPOOL LOTS!

I will be taking that magical bus next weekend to Milwaukee. Also a non stop destination on this said bus line. Only paid $30 for the ticket.
