for those that haven't, let me enlighten you. it involves trying on dresses that you didn't pick out, in sizes that don't fit, and in colors that look hideous on you. it also entails hours in a bridal shop where there are only women who all live, breathe, dream, and talk WEDDINGS.
my younger brother's fiancee melissa has been looking for bridesmaid dresses and recently discovered mestad's, a bridal boutique in rochester. and since i was going home on sunday for father's day and would be the only bridesmaid within an hour's drive of town, she made an appointment to look at dresses (read: i had to model). my 1st thot walking in on sunday: is this what hell will be like???
the only really painful part was getting measured, which involves stripping to your skivies and letting some stranger tell you how misproportioned your bust, waist, and hips are.
my measurements according to me:
B: little
W: big
H: childbearing
my measurements according to them:
B: 33
W: 29
H: 38.5
which equate to:
B: size 0 dress
W: size 6 dress
H: size 10 dress (yes, i'm bottom heavy)
in the end the pain was worth it. melissa found a dress she liked (picture it in sage), and i got ice cream afterwards. will be getting a size 8 dress, which means there will be LOTS of alterations to shrink the top to fit my chest (remember, my boobs are meant for a size 0). or i'll just do as mom suggested and stuff a couple of rolls of toilet paper in there...
