the nice weather has made it pretty easy to want to be outside so i had lunch this wk at the Parc de l'Ariana, which is right next to the UN and only a couple of blocks from where i work. the Musee Ariana sits on one end, and the two dudes walking in the photo are from canada. they were passing thru, and when i approached they looked at me like they were expecting me to break out some serious french or korean.me: hey, do you guys know what's in the museum?
guy 1: whoa. you speak english, eh?
guy 2: cool. um, yeah... not much in there. some glass and ceramics.
guy 1: (to guy 2) dude, she speaks english. (to me) where you from?
me: mpls. you?
guy 2: toronto. we got here this morning and are leaving in an hour.
guy 1: (to himself) wow. she speak's english.
chatted w/them as we walked out of the park and across the street to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (muckerheide, this photo's for you!). it's a bit surreal being in the middle of all these organizations working on saving the world thru diplomacy and understanding. feel like i'm meeting people 10x smarter than me everyday. and then i meet these canadians, and don't feel so dumb anymore :)
