Music, Music, and More Music!

this wknd is the fete de la musique, a huge festival w/concerts all over the city. music varies, and most of it is outdoors and free. very cool. there are people EVERYWHERE, like in Parc de Bastions this afternoon.
saw several shows. apologize now for the poor pictures. it was dark and i could only get so close to the stages...

one of the bands i saw was exphase. they put on an AWESOME show. would strongly recommend them if you're ever in the geneva area...found out about them thru one of the chicas in the office cuz she's dating the bass player...

from there i went into Old Town. now, you have to understand that when i say the music varied, it varied GREATLY. everything from classical to punk to marching band to this:
wandered back to Place Nueve after finding a yummy pastry to nosh on, and found the verdeparra salsa & latin big jazz band. these guys were nuts. there were 20+ people jamming away on stage and lots of people salsa dancing outside.
after a bit moved back into the Parc de Bastions to check out a ska/punk band called gingala. (sorry, no pic - couldn't get anywhere near the stage.) it's kinda funny listening to ska/punk in french! they were pretty good, tho they didn't really win me over til they broke out the theme song to ghostbusters. that part was pretty cool!

besides the music, i did manage to see some football. congrats to the US team for tying Italy. maybe this means they'll win when they play ghana (tho not likely after ghana's performance tnite against the czech republic...). i'll be watching the last of the concerts sunday afternoon, and ending my day w/korea hopefully beating france!
