Sequoia National Park - Day 3

after a good night's sleep, we woke up and took our sweet time packing up camp before heading towards redwood meadow.
on our way we stopped at high sierra camp and took a look inside the general store where the cook was making rosemary focaccia bread...
...and then we continued downhill some more...
about halfway down we decided to stop for lunch on a pile of rocks in the middle of a stream.

it was SO NICE!

it was also where i first noticed that i had a few blisters. one was so bad that it was under my toenail. OW!

todd kindly wrapped me up, and to help soothe the pain, surprised me w/a bottle of my favorite beer that he had been hauling the last couple of days... HOW SWEET WAS THAT???

after a long break and a few more hours of hiking...
we eventually got to our destination, one of the more secluded sequoia groves in the park!
after wandering for a bit like ants amongst giants, we hoisted our smelly stuff (no bear boxes here) and settled for the night.
(top to bottom: todd sleeping under the covers; morning sun on valhalla; bird in a tree [look center right!]; pretty scenery on hike down; kitchen at high sierra camp; hike down from bearpaw camp; my poor toes; todd pumping water at a creek; more pretty scenery; blue feather found along the path; pics of the giant sequoia we slept under; rusted wheelbarrow and boarded up cabin at redwood meadow; todd's bag-hanging handiwork; todd playing his harmonica; view straight up the side of a sequoia)
