Sequoia National Park - Day 1

so i'm a few wks behind...

my broken finger is still swollen so i've been avoiding any sort of typing. but since it's nearly the end of sept, i figured i should post something about our backpacking trip...

we started out at crescent meadow, and came across our first black bear climbing in a tree about 10 ft into our trip.
about 10 ft after that, we came across our first sequoias on the trail.

i've never seen trees so big!

of course, todd had to hug them before we could move on...

our first day was a mad rush cuz we started so late.

even so, there were lots of pretty views to see!(this last pic is looking straight down at the valley below)

we eventually passed little blue dome, and set up camp at buck canyon. we got in just as the sun was going down, and i was POOPED...

(top to bottom, L to R: lodgepole visitor center; crescent meadow; little bear in a tree; view along the high sierra trail; little blue dome; sign for the bear box at our campsite)
