Semi-Vacation

i'm a wee bit behind... here's the quick version to catch you up...

eventually i did make it home from macedonia. it was one of the more uncomfortable trips i've been on. and while the country itself was really pretty, i don't think i'll be going back anytime soon. i'm still waiting for a proper apology from the nutjob...

after a few days in atlanta, i flew to MN and spent time in mpls, rochester, and cedar rapids, IA. i was suppose to be on vacation for 1.5 wks to see family, celebrate birthdays, and attend a wedding. funny how work still managed to get in the way. i was working everyday, including taking 7am conf calls. boo!

despite the work, i got to spend a lot of time with family and friends. in cedar rapids, we celebrated melissa's birthday w/4th of july fireworks, mini golf, and ridiculously yummy breakfast (can you guys come to my place and make all that food again???).

in rochester, my mom kindly made all my favorite korean food and i, of course, stuffed my face silly. we also celebrated mom's 60th birthday. among other things, mom, melissa, and i got manis and pedis, and managed to blow a fuse and break the nail dryer machine. oops.

(we didn't break anything the rest of the day tho...)

it was an interesting trip. i've learned that i can't take a real vacation while in this role, and for the first time, i didn't picture myself returning to MN. who knows tho? this assignment ends in 6 mos and i may actually want to see some snow.

(top to bottom, L to R: dad driving the minivan to IA; mom mini golfing; mom explaining to melissa and her mom what the birthday card says in korean; melissa's mom, her sister melanie, melissa's dad, dad, yong, melissa, erick, and mom waiting for the fireworks to start)
