Saigon - Part I

of all the places in the world, i never thot i'd end up in saigon. it just had never crossed my mind. that said, i never thot i'd end up in blair, ne either...

anyhoo, mtgs last wk were nutty. spent the wk at the majestic hotel, quite possibly one of the classiest places i've ever stayed. built in 1925 and still standing, it's gorgeous. and the fact that someone turned down my bed and left me chocolates every night totally helped.

was in saigon for 3 meetings: a vietnam country mtg, a regional mtg, and an EMT mtg (the equivalent of a board). the EMT was my primary responsibility, and needless to say, it sucked. i thot i was going to barf before it even happened, and i had a full wk to wait. the one entertaining thing about these mtgs tho was the set up. 3 of the 4 days were spent in a ballroom decorated to be someone's wedding reception, and came complete w/a butler in a red bow tie.

fortunately, there were a few perks w/the mtgs. we were staying in a nice location along the river, and it had 3 bars for me to hide in. most of our mtgs were on the 5th floor, which was also where we ate breakfast. it was a huge patio that overlooked the river so every morning was spent w/a plate of tropical fruit, a croissant, and a view of boats coming into port. i can't think of a better way to spend a work trip where you can't sleep past 5:30am.
