I Have Typhoid

went to the travel clinic today in preparation for a trip to africa next month.

30 mins later i was injected with immunizations for polio, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and yellow fever. i get my cipro and malaria pills on friday.

i also got typhoid pills today (just popped one a min ago), which must be kept alive in the fridge. funny how they give you live viruses when you want to be protected from them...

and then there was the advice i got about dengue fever:
we don't have a vaccine for it, and there's nothing you can take if you get it. you just have to ride it out for a couple of weeks while being in the most intense pain ever. it really sucks so don't get it.
funny, cuz i wasn't really planning on getting any of these other infections either...

what the hell do you need cipro for? are you spending the entire time handling anthrax?

i'm going to tanzania for some meetings and am ridiculously excited!

won't be handling anthrax, but it's a good antibiotic that my DR is making me take just in case. i'm trying to spend a few days outside the city, but we're still negotiating whether or not it'll happen...
