hasn't even been 24 hrs since finding out my start date for a new job and it's been pointed out to me MULTIPLE TIMES how replaceable i am.
since 5pm yesterday, several things have happened:
1. they’ve identified a replacement,
2. told me when to train her and what to do w/my remaining time, and
3. babbled about my new job to EVERYONE even tho it's not public yet.
and nowhere in any of this has anyone asked me my opinion.
then again, what the hell do i know? i've only invested the last 7 years of my life in the damn job.
and just to add salt to the wound, getting the new job started has been a painful process. i've been learning what it's like to be hired internally for a job that didn't previously exist. the air of autonomy around deciding your own job description, agreement, title, etc is completely sullied by the fact that the people in charge are very slow on necessary MAJOR administrative details, i.e. they didn't even have the OK to fund the position a few wks ago, yet i was approached to take it 3 mos ago...
left early today feeling used, pissed, sore (back is still recovering), and overall just CRAPTASTIC. am now taking tmrw off as a break and will use this wknd to decide whether or not it's worth returning on monday to either job.

oh darn
will you be ok there ???
a couple of friends have suffered an almost similar experience: they were asked to go abroad (Qatar for my friend Marc and China for my friend Anne Laure), and both were bullshitted left right and center until almost day -1.... and that, from big international companies (a bank and an oil company)... makes you wonder if you're ever anything more than just a pawn...
not that this will make you feel any better, of course.... i'm sorry but i don't know what to say to you, i've no clever piece of advice for you except maybe, hang in there, girl !! you're stronger than you think...
thank you nat! i'll make it. i'm just frustrated. when 1 thing goes right, the next day 5 things go wrong. not going to let it ruin my wknd, but yesterday it brought me down pretty hard.
