Washington, DC

shortly after returning from beijing, i went to DC. how i luv that place!

DC is 1 of 2 places at the top of my relocation request for next year.

maybe i'll get lucky and actually get to live in a city i want to be in.

then again, i should just hope for an assignment where i actually get to LIVE in the city for more than a few days at a time...

originally planned to go there for work and stay the wknd, but as it turned out, all my mtgs got cancelled.

apparently no one wants to meet on the friday before a holiday wknd.

i'm going to start scheduling all my trips so they coincide w/holiday wknds...

met up w/2 people out there who had never seen the capitol before, which meant we had to do all the typical touristy stuff.

some new things for me on this visit: the national archives, the vietnam war memorial, the supreme court, einstein statue (which has an echo chamber. who knew?), boat ride across the potomac to georgetown, and 2+ hours on top of a double decker bus.

(i now have the worst sun burn from being on top of that damn bus!)

think on my next visit i'll bring my family. really think my parents would like it a lot.

i, on the other hand, would really just like to sleep in my own bed for more than a few days. sadly, that'll have to wait a couple more wks. i leave again on thurs...

(top to bottom, L to R: north side of the white house; declaration of independence; capitol building; vietnam war memorial; spiral staircase @ the supreme court; reflecting pool and washington monument; lincoln memorial; sunset on the potomac)
