Spring Break

have been on hiatus for a bit -- so sorry -- but the past wk was spring break. wish i had some crazy story to share about luv, sex, and rock-n-roll, but i had to opt out of going to SXSW (don't even get me started on why). so here's what went on instead...

FREAKSHOW
fri, mar 9th: got a phone call from an unknown # around 10pm. it was local, but i was busy and if it were that important, they'd leave a voicemail, right? WRONG. the next morning the same # called at 10:20am. again, no message. didn't think much of it til it called again at 10:30am. and again at 10:38am. and 10:45am. and 10:50am. 10:52am. 10:54am. 10:55am. the calls continued to increase til they were EVERY MINUTE. around 11:15am, the idiot finally left a voicemail and guess who it was??? MY TANDEM PARTNER. he said he got a new cell phone, and wanted to know why i wasn't picking up and where i was at. WHO DOES THAT?! he called again before i had a chance to call him back, but this time i picked up and let him have it. and now he's not my partner anymore...

THE HOST
sun, mar 11th: saw The Host at the uptown theater w/eleni, aaron, and john. this is SUCH A GOOD MOVIE, and proves koreans can make a film w/o a ridiculous amount of gratuitous blood, guts, and gore... if you get the chance, go see it!

ACME COMEDY

thurs, mar 16th: went to acme comedy club to see eddie gossling (apologies for the crappy pic, but i had to take it in the dark w/o a flash). this guy is HILARIOUS! and thank god too cuz the dude that went on just before him REALLY SUCKED... uber funny show and well worth seeing. and for the locals that didn't know, you can get free tix to a show the month of your bday. thanks aaron for suggesting!

WORK
fri, mar 16th: since i didn't go anywhere for spring break, i worked. one of my favorite people there is a Brazilian named Carlos, who's been growing a beard for the last few wks. i've been giving him crap about shaving, and on friday morning he finally did. now he sports a porn-star mustache and i can't look at him w/o laughing. lol! just when i thot it couldn't get any worse, he proved me wrong...

VISIT FROM DANE

that evening my high school friend dane came to visit for the wknd. it's been a ridiculously long time since i last saw him, so it was really nice to catch up! we spent several hours at the mall of america where we found some cute sock monkeys (1 had a unibrow) and really bad clothing. i made him put on this gold jacket w/rolls of $100 bills printed on it and freely laughed at him. hee-hee! unfortunately we weren't able to find a matching gold cap to put on his teeth...

SURPRISE PARTY
saturday night we started out at a surprise party for my friend andy. he turned 30 on friday and thot he was going to a st. patrick's day party at his brother's house. and even tho there were PLENTY of chances for him to find out, esp that day, his wife proved to be a really good liar (or else he's just that slow!). took a while for the shock and awe to wear off cuz he stood in the doorway for a solid 10 mins completely dumbfounded saying only "wow." it was really cute. happy birthday old man!

ST. PADDY'S DAY

after hanging out at the party for a bit, dane and i met up w/some of my friends in uptown. uber fun time complete w/green beer, garb, and a leprechaun dressed in a biker jacket (sorry no pic, but he was short enough that dane and i decided he still qualified).(top to bottom: gabe drinking beer w/his new little mug; carrie w/her 1st ever green beer; dane being festive)

sorry for the extended update, but that should last you a while. school starts again tmrw (test on wed!) and i've got to start pretending to focus again...
