Catch-Up

I'M SO SORRY!!! between work, school, and the gimpy back, i've been MIA. work is going fine, school is incredibly busy as we near the end of the semester (my last final is dec 18th), and the back is still sore but recovering. i can walk at a normal pace again, but i'm only up to wearing heels half a day. had them all day and night this past thurs and thot i was going to shoot myself. we won't mention that to the physical therapist on monday...

since i was so gimpy the entire month of nov, we're going to do a little catch up w/what went on...

nov 11th - stacy mitchell book event. she was in town promoting her book, Big Box Swindle, and our pizza project was there to share our findings on independent businesses. pictured here is piyali, fellow teammate and back pain sufferer (tho she's pregnant and has a legit excuse, whereas i'm just accident-prone).

nov 17th - southern MN got a ton of snow while mpls got nothing (and no, i'm not complaining). 90 mins SE of mpls, my parents in rochester got 11.8 inches of snow. 90 mins SW of here my younger brother in mankato got 7 inches of snow. and even tho there was horrible driving conditions and icky weather outside, erick stuck w/his plan to propose to his girlfriend. got a call at 10:30pm that night saying they were engaged. lesson learned here: luv knows no weather warnings.

nov 19th - was on my way to the grocery store when my friend eleni called to tell me about a freak bike accident the night before and the 5 staples in the back of her head. she couldn't see them so i offered to take a pic (lucky yooouuu). it was the first time i've ever seen actual staples in in someone's head... OMG, it was so gross! blurred for your convenience.

the funniest part about that visit was that we were both broken and on medication. eventually i had to lay down on her living room floor cuz my back hurt too much and she had to take more medicine for her headache. our friend may was there and i think she thot we were crazy. for entertainment we put a dress on eleni's cat dione (pronouned dee-ohn-nee), which was hilarious cuz the dress gave her vertigo and she'd periodically fall over. hee-hee...

nov 23rd - thanksgiving!!! luv this time of year when it's ok to eat like a pig. since this is American thanksgiving we do it American style w/turkey, stuffing, etc but i'm pretty sure my family is the only one in town that also has a side of kimchi on the table next to the mashed potatoes... went home to rochester for a couple of days, and while i got no homework done during my visit, i needed the time out. the weather was awesome so after eating my family went for a walk through the park next to my parents house. it was uber nice to see my older brother yong, especially since he's moving to Boise, ID shortly before x-mas to be closer to my nieces and nephew.

my younger brother also brought home his fiancee melissa. she's awesome and i like her a lot. she's uber sweet and smart and so unlike my older brother's ex-wife...

ok, that's all for now. again, sorry for the lack of writing. i promise to blog more after finals are over!!!

ps - many thanks to my aimless nomad for keeping your blog updated w/txt and pictures! you have no idea how entertaining it was to read while i was on my back this past month w/nowhere to go. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
